Earth Day 2025: Embrace a Greener Sense of Time with TimexUpdated a month ago

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that progress is a process, and real change comes one choice at a time. Join us in making that choice; for the planet, for the future, and for generations to come.

For over 170 years, we've been redefining what it means to be watchmakers. We're constantly in pursuit of a better tomorrow, and we're committed to bringing you timeless watches that are equal parts environmentally friendly and beautifully crafted. We're not just all talk, either. There are a number of ways we're working to achieve our goal of taking less from the planet and leaving less behind while making durable watches that can last a lifetime. Here are just a few...

  • We use solar-powered movements that convert any form of light into electrical energy, powering your watch for up to 4 months and eliminating the need for battery changes.

  • We use battery-free mechanical movements that are powered by you. This means one less battery for you to worry about changing and one less battery ending up in our landfills.

  • Wherever possible, we build our watches with recycled materials, such as stainless steel and plastic.

  • In partnership with #tide, we’re working to clean our oceans by upcycling ocean-bound plastic into watch parts.

  • Our leather watch straps use leather that's certified by The Leather Working Group; a global organization dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of leather production.

  • We launched Timex ReWound - the world's first circular program for watches. This program allows you to send us any used watch from any brand so that we can give it a new life with someone new or recycle its parts into new products.

Through these efforts, we've been able to...

  • Remove over 800,000 plastic bottles from ocean and recycle them into watch parts
  • Save an average of 8,300 garbage cans of waste
  • Save 3.5 million gallons of drinking water in one year
  • Save enough electricity to power 120+ homes for one year

And while we’re still on the journey toward our goal of having 50% of our watches sustainably sourced by 2026, we’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited about what’s ahead. Every Timex is a reflection of our belief that great design and environmental responsibility should go hand in hand. This Earth Day, we’re reminded that progress is a process, and real change comes one choice at a time. Join us in making that choice; for the planet, for the future, and for generations to come.
